Our unique property was originally homesteaded in the early 1900's by A.J. Swanson. With one of the most majestic views in the Valley, our A.J. Swanson Homestead Cabin currently is available to those who wish to go back in time and enjoy a quiet and rustic night under the stars.

 

In the 1930's our property was included as part of Roosevelt's New Deal (the plan to help Americans recover from the Depression) and was the home to a relocated family from the States. Johan Johnson his wife Irene and their only child from Anatol, MN drew the farm in the colony lottery in 1935. Like many other colonists the farm was used for hay and small crops.

 

In the 1960's, our property housed one of the Valleys prized Dairy Farms. Fairview Dairy. A partnership, involving the pooling of resources, including the animals, buildings, equipment and operational expenses was created between two amazing families. Joe/Myrtle Gisalson and Bob/Merlie McCombs. The dairy operated for approximately 6 years and held approx. 100 head of dairy cows.

The dairy barn was converted in 1986 to it's current B&B Inn. With a complete remodel of the property we were careful to keep the barn charm but bring and elegance and sophistication into the finishing touches.
